The time has come for one of Germany's biggest clubs to awaken from it's slumber and return to the top flight of German football.
Today we look at why Hamburg SV should be on your radar as a save idea for FM22.
Hamburg (or HSV) were relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of 2017-18 Season and have now spent four consecutive seasons in Germany's second division, 2.Bundesliga. During this time have gone through five managers as they try to fight their way back to the Bundesliga with no manager lasting more than 12 months. Will you be the first to pass that mark?
Why Hamburg?
So, why Hamburg you ask? It's a very valid question given there are so many teams in Germany that you could manage and have almost instant success with like Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen but Hamburg is a great save for someone who wants to earn Promotion with a club and lead the resurgence of a club that has been starved of glory, both Domestic and Continental for the best part of 30 years.
In the BETA version of FM22, Hamburg have a transfer budget of £2.56 million with an available wage budget of £12.2k per week so there is room for improvement there.
Their defence looks pretty with solid with the Josha Vangoman and Tim Leibold being joined by Mario Vuskovic (on loan from Hadjuk Split).
Using the Team Depth Screen, investment will be required on the right hand side of the pitch and in the striker position based on Current Ability.
The potential is there with 17 year-old centre-back Dennis Duah listed as the club's best prospect and has the potential to be a star player for the club.
Like I said at the beginning of the article, it would be easy to pick a larger club in Germany and have almost instant success but why not try and rebuild one of the great German clubs.
